Email delivery is a critical feature for any modern web application. Notifications such as new orders, user registrations, order updates, and newsletters must be delivered reliably. SHONiR CMS includes a powerful Mail Servers management system that allows administrators to configure multiple SMTP servers with relay limits to ensure stable and scalable email delivery.

Instead of relying on a single mail server, SHONiR CMS allows you to add multiple SMTP providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), SendPulse, or even your own private mail server. The system will automatically select a server randomly from the active list whenever an email needs to be sent.

This approach improves deliverability, load balancing, and reliability. If one server reaches its sending limit, SHONiR CMS automatically switches to another available SMTP server.

How Email Sending Works in SHONiR CMS

Whenever an email is triggered from the system, such as:

• New order notifications
• Order status updates
• User registrations
• Email subscriptions
• Newsletter emails to subscribers
• Bulk emails to users

SHONiR CMS will randomly choose one of the active SMTP servers that you previously configured in the admin panel.

Each server can also have relay limits, ensuring you never exceed provider sending quotas.

For this guide, we will configure Brevo SMTP for sending emails.

Automatic Retry System (Failover Protection)

One of the powerful features of SHONiR CMS Mail Servers is its automatic retry and failover mechanism. This ensures that emails are not lost if an SMTP server becomes unavailable.

If an email fails to send due to a temporary problem such as:

• SMTP server downtime
• Network timeout
• Authentication error
• Provider rate limits

SHONiR CMS will not discard the email.

Instead, the system will:

1. Save the email in the mail queue.
2. Wait 5 to 15 seconds.
3. Retry sending the email using another available SMTP server.

Retry Attempts

SHONiR CMS will continue retrying until one of the following conditions is met:

• The email is successfully delivered
• The retry limit reaches 12 attempts

If a server fails during the first attempt, the system automatically switches to another active SMTP server from the list.

Example Scenario

Imagine you have configured the following SMTP servers:

• Brevo
• Gmail SMTP
• Yahoo SMTP
• Your private mail server

If Brevo is temporarily unavailable, SHONiR CMS will automatically try:

1. Gmail SMTP
2. Yahoo SMTP
3. Your private mail server

Each retry occurs after a short delay (5–15 seconds) until the email is successfully sent.

With this mechanism, SHONiR CMS ensures that email communication remains reliable even if one or more mail servers temporarily fail.

Step 1 — Create an SMTP Key in Brevo

First, create an account or log in to your Brevo dashboard.

1. Go to https://brevo.com
2. Login or sign up for an account.
3. Click the Settings gear icon.
4. Under Organization Settings click Senders, Domains & IPs.
5. Verify your sending email address or domain.
6. Go to SMTP & API.
7. Click Generate a new SMTP key.

Brevo will provide SMTP credentials like this:

SMTP Server: smtp-relay.brevo.com
Port: 587

You can also use your own SMTP server:

SMTP Server: mail.example.com
Port: 587
Login: [email protected]

Step 2 — Login to SHONiR CMS Admin Panel

Step 3 — Open Mail Servers Settings

1. Click the menu icon in the top-left corner.
2. Open the sidebar.
3. Click Mail Servers.
4. Select Add.

• Priority
• Encryption

• Relay

Testing the Email System

1. Go to the SHONiR CMS frontend
2. Subscribe using the email subscription form

If everything is configured correctly, you will receive a confirmation email.
